Abstract In October 1995, East Carolina University Chancellor Richard Eakin opened Ledonia S. Wright Cultural Center. Located in Bloxton House, it is named for a popular professor who founded and advised the university's first African-American student organization. Under director Nell Lewis, the center serves as a facility for research, educational programming and as a respository for the university's collection of African and African-American art. It is a part of the Division of Student Life.
